Homemade Silly Putty

This is a pretty basic messy art recipe.
Silly putty is easy to make, and the homemade kind is more fun than the silly putty you used to get in the quarter machines that was in that little peach egg looking thing.

What You Need

4 tablespoons liquid starch
8 tablespoons of white school glue
Your choice of food coloring

Mix all ingredients in a small bowl.
Stir a bit, then let set for 5 minutes.
Start working it by hand and it will firm up
Have fun!

What's nice about silly putty is that yes its sticky but its actually not THAT messy.
It's really easy to peel off of your skin and whatever's left can be easily washed off with warm water.

It also saves for a long time in an airtight container or ziplock bag.

* I haven't yet tried to wash that white shirt above on L, however a friend has informed me that it does not easily wash out of clothing!

Our Week in Pictures

A weekly post
that captures the memories we've made
from Monday-Sunday
(including the cat)

With the holidays and school work, I haven't done one of these weekly posts in a while, so this post has pictures from the last few weeks as well.

Links are highlighted in Green

Pretending to sleep at the table (snoring and all).
This is his new thing when he doesn't want to eat his veggies.

First snow angel

and some snow snackin

L gets a snack all by himself, without mommy knowing.
He even got a plate out of the dishwasher!

Some of our afternap activities of the week

Caddy Cats Week

Spy Cat

Centerpiece Cat

Basket Cat

Comfy Cat

I would also like to announce that L is now fully day time potty trained! It was one VERY stressful week, but if I knew it would only have taken a week, I wouldn't have stressed so much! He is on his way to being FULLY potty trained, as we have had several dry nights as well! I'm am so excited that he's potty trained, but also a bit sad. This was his last "baby" thing. It feels like he's all grown up now.
I kind of have baby empty nest. haha.

Treasure Ice Cubes

L is obsessed with "treasure" and he loves to play in water and so I froze some small toys and trinkets in an ice cube tray and then let him drop them into warm water to discover the hidden "treasure."

His new treasure collection

I'll definately be doing this activity again in the summer. These would be a great summer water activity...even in a kiddie pool.Heck, we could just put the ice cubes on the sidewalk! I've already got lots of ice melting ideas for summer. I'm thinking BIG ice blocks.
